Dr. Lisa,

Thanks for validating my impression. I agree that LI has a lot of potential, but think that most people are using it as a push marketing channel before they've even taken the time to generate interest in what they are saying.

Appreciate your contribution to this discussion!

Thank you for voicing an opinion and frustration I've had for a long time! I have limited my interaction in LI pretty much to the status box and the Q&A because these seem to be the only places I can get interaction. Really!! Updating my status box generates more discussion that the "Discussion" forums in the 30-odd groups I "participate" in. Disappointing!! I've been on LI much longer than any other social networking site, but I've made fewer meaningful connections. I know my temperament craves connection - and that Twitter is populated by a higher percentage of "NF"'s than LinkedIn- but don't the inhabitants of LI get the "social" part of "social networking??
Thanks for letting me get my rant off my chest! All that being said, I do respect LI as an excellent business resource. I don't believe LI has had as many active educators as Twitter (@CoachDeb, @unmarketing, @JoelComm) or Facebook (Mari Smith). Only Zake Taberman comes to mind - and his focus has not been on making connections.
Food for thought,
Dr. Lisa
